I think . NET6 is the way forward, but assuming that projects can be
upgraded to .NET6 is incorrect. For example: we use a library that had a
EOL 10 years ago and no source code. We don't have the time or budget to
get rid of it. It's just not worth the risk of new bugs. It still runs fine
on 4.8 but i have no idea if it will run on 6 so we have to stick to 4.8.

But go ahead with .net6. You have to keep up with the game..
