I think I asked the question incorrectly. Sorry about that…

I understand that it’s just a dll.
I’ve be writing windows apps for several years now so that’s not a problem.

What I’m confused about is how to write an initiator app.

I did read this (http://quickfixn.org/tutorial/creating-an-application.html) and understand it.

The QF/n engine is just a dll. It can work with a console app, or it can work with a Forms app. A console app is easier for a beginner.

I think you need to experiment a little more. I suggest you write 2 apps: a simple initiator and a simple acceptor (both console apps) and try to get the initiator to login to the acceptor.

Cheers,

So I’m ready to create my first FIX application.
The data connection is ready to go and I have received the configuration file from my counterparty.

The issue is I don’t know how to start the QuickFIX/n engine.

Thank you
