We used to have some custom fields that we wanted to have on the messages as properties. But turns out we don’t need that anymore.

Thanks

If it works for you, go for it. I would say there is no "suggested" way to do what you're doing. I doubt this class was designed with extension in mind. (IMessageFactory has multiple internal implementing classes, but I suspect the original writers probably didn't think developers would extend it externally.)

The method was obsoleted probably just to reduce the public interface, since the engine doesn't use it anymore.

To help inform future decision making-- What's the reason you needed to make a custom IMessageFactory?

Hi,
I have implemented a custom message factory (IMessageFactory). For the method that returns a Group I just want to fall back to the default implementation. To do this I instantiate the DefaultMessageFactory in my message factory. This worked fine until I made my message factory public (from internal). Now I get a stack overflow because the DefaultMessageFactory has magic to instantiate all public MessageFactories it finds. I was able to fix it by using this constructor: new DefaultMessageFactory(Enumerable.Empty<Assembly>()) . I’m surprised that the constructor that takes a list of factories is obsolete. In any case, I’m wondering if I’m using it right.

PS: The search feature on the mailing list seems to be broken

Thanks,
