Thanks for the response!  I can add the logic myself but I didn’t want to add my own custom code if there was already a way to do it using QuickFIX.

Sorry, no, that's not an implemented feature in any QF port that I'm aware of.

I would like to reject messages back to our counterparty if certain tags are too long.  For example, I believe our counterparty could send us a string that’s 100 characters long for the symbol (tag 55) but our database isn’t set up to accept a field that long.  For the sake of speed, I insert the contents of the messages into our database before validating the lengths of the tags.  If it’s not possible, I’ll just add a quick check before inserting into the database since my inserts are happening on a separate thread and won’t slow down the processing of new messages coming in.
